Pilates for Clinicians:
Improving Balance, Strength, and Kinesthetics
The Pilates
Method of Exercise is a proven comprehensive approach to core strengthening which has become a valuable tool for an
increasing number of clinical therapists in recent years. As you learn and practice
the six key principles of Pilates exercises during this one day seminar, you will gain practical experience in applying the
Pilates Method in order to resolve the specific challenges facing your patients. Learn
how to make your therapy sessions more effective: As your understanding of your
clients’ movement deficits becomes more focused, you will see your patients’ kinesthetic awareness improve with
each therapeutic intervention you introduce to them. This is a practical, participatory,
hands-on course. Your Certified Authentic Pilates Instructor, Wendy Quitasol,
provides extensive lab practice time, as well as clinical examples and specific case studies. You
will learn how to apply the Pilates method to a variety of patient diagnoses, and how to best document the therapy sessions
for maximum reimbursement from insurance companies. You will leave this course
feeling energized, stronger and balanced, with a heightened awareness of your own body kinesthetics.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of the course, you will be able to:
· Identify the six key principles of the Pilates
Method of Exercise.
· Demonstrate basic exercises using the principles.
· Use Pilates principles when teaching any
exercise to a client.
· Demonstrate a basic understanding of the six principles
with regard to kinesthetic movement.
· Integrate basic Pilates Exercises into a client
treatment program addressing specific patient diagnoses within a variety of settings.
· Describe how to accurately document treatment sessions
for maximum reimbursement.

Director:
Wendy Quitasol, MPT, received a Masters of Physical
Therapy from Temple University and a Bachelor
of Science degree from Indiana University. She is a Certified Authentic Pilates instructor,
having completed the rigorous certification process that includes 70 Pilates lessons, 15 days of seminar training and minimum
700 hours of apprenticeship. Wendy studied the Pilates Method with Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia-Santo, disciples of Joseph
Pilates, in New York. She has utilized the Pilates Method in long term
care, acute care, rehabilitation settings, and outpatient clinics. She is the co-owner of Mind Body Physical Therapy &
Wellness Center, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland. Wendy brings high energy, humor, and extensive clinical expertise into the classroom.
